PMI-ACP

Offered by the Project Management Institute, the PMI-ACP certification is one of the most recognized project management certifications. When it comes to choosing the ideal certification for agile project management, PMI-ACP certification is a must.

To be eligible for giving the PMI-ACP examination, one needs to gather 2,000 hours of experience gained from being involved in general projects. Additional to the previous condition, a candidate also needs to have at least 1,500 hours of experience in working under an agile-based project. To add to a candidate’s agile experience, he/she is also needed to have at least 21 contact hours of training under agile practices.

Below I have stated the benefits of getting the PMI-ACP certification:

  • Unlike other certifications, the PMI-ACP focuses on diversified concepts of agile-based project management. This not only ensures that the candidates are trained in Scrum but also with other lesser known concepts of the agile methodologies.
  • The fact that PMI-ACP certificate holders are more aware of the foundation of agile-based project management makes them more sought after when compared to other certifications.

CSM/CSPO/CSD By Scrum Alliance

Scrum is defined as the most commonly used out of all the available Agile methodologies. The same is mainly because it provides organizations with a very light yet very efficient framework.

Scrum Alliance provides certifications for their Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), and Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) courses. As the name suggests, the certification provided by Scrum Alliance specializes in detailing out the Scrum methodology in detail to the enrolled candidates.

Here are the reasons you must go for it.

  • It allows the involved team to divide the project into manageable and significant bits as iterations. These iterations can be presented to the organization as bits of progress and can be used to further improve the upcoming phases of the specified project.
  • The basic difference between the certifications from PMI and Scrum Alliance is that the latter focuses more and only on the Scrum method.

Let’s talk about a few of the differences between the Scrum certifications:

  • One of the few differences between the Scrum certifications offered by Scrum.org is the certification cost. While the CSM/CSPO/CSD courses offered by Scrum Alliance has no real fixed cost for the certification, The PSM certification costs $150, and the PSPO/PSD certifications cost $250 respectively.
